IT’S ALL IN THE PREPARATION…

image

The above displays exactly how the day before Modus AW Press day is; chaotic, fun and above all, fashionable.
This morning at a not so glamourous hour, we arrived, coffee in hand, ready for the final preparations of our press day. Bags, boxes and shelves to name a few were moved to Washington House, transforming   the venue into a haven for both fashion and beauty lovers. Our amazing team oozed buckets of creativity and drive in showcasing our beautiful collections.

So as the day draws to an end, all we can say is, well done Modus and to our guests……enjoy!

NAPAPIJRI AW10/11 COLLECTION PRESENTATION

image

Yesterday we were in Milan to visit the Napapijri HQ and see the new AW10/11 collection
and check out some of the key new products on offer.

The recycled nylon cape (that’s me holding it up!) is the hottest item for Napapijri and is hitting stores in Sep 2010.

BERSHKA BRINGS IBIZA TO OXFORD STREET!

image

Today Bershka held their exclusive Press morning and in-store party hosted by Space Ibiza to celebrate the reopening of the Bershka London flagship store and for press to preview the high summer collections.

The setup of the morning was nice and easy once we had decided where to put the high summer preview rail, and how we were going to merchandise the product to ‘tell a story’. The breakfast was great success and the perfect setting to show press the new collections and store layout. We had a great turnout and press really liked the new themed ‘Club Bershka’ store.

The evening event approached quickly and we made our way back down for the in-store party. As we approached Oxford Circus, our conversation was interrupted by a heavy bassline and the vibe of a street carnival. Acrobatic dancers dressed in extravagant tiered dresses stood on metal scaffolding emerged from the store entrance and were pushed by scantily dressed men– the party had begun!  Cheers and loud roar of laughter echoed through London Oxford Street with even the buses slowing down to take a look.

We followed the dancers in to the store where we were welcomed by a live DJ - the atmosphere was electric.  The speakers pumped out big basslines and breakbeats, press and customers partied together, drinks were flowing and the cash registers were ringing - in one word….PERFECT!

FEW & FAR 2010 EDITION

image

It was a visual as well as an edible feast at Few and Far this week. To launch the 2010 Edition, press, favourite customers and the Modus team spent a happy day at Few & Far with the eclectic, unique and utterly beautiful ranges of clothing, accessories, lighting and furniture.

Everyone had a favourite - from the amazing exhibition of work by designer Paola Navone and quirky jewellery by Nilu Miao to the beautiful silk cotton designs by Indian clothing designer Pero.

In the evening, guests made headway with the banqueting table - slabs of cheese, quince jelly and caramelised walnuts went down as well as the Black Velvet cocktails - Guinness + Champagne = fashion’s way to celebrate St Patricks Day!.
Entertainment came from a very smart accordion player and guests left with a mini bunch of snowflake flowers - spring is finally here!

image

Modus Publicity held the Calvin Klein High Summer Press day today at hip restaurant and bar Aqua Nueva on Regent Street where we presented Calvin Klein Collection Eyewear, cK Calvin Klein Eyewear and Calvin Klein Swimwear. After the swift set up - chic, classic and simple; the room was ‘Calvinized’ and we were ready to go!

The fresh spring morning was perfect for presenting high summer and the press began to roll in and continued to throughout day. The more press that arrived, the fewer sunglasses we had on our display as they quickly learned a pair were on offer… LET THE TRYING ON BEGIN!

The day went really well, we had a great turnout - press kept thanking us for treating them to a pair of sunnies and we were treated to a sneak peek at Pat Butcher and Peggy Mitchell from Eastenders who were filming outside the theatre adjacent to the venue!

VIDAL SASSOON THE MOVIE” TO HAVE WORLD PREMIERE AT 2010 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL, NEW YORK

image

“For the past three years, I’ve been working on a documentary of my life, so I’ve been re-visiting experiences and places I haven’t been in decades, looking back on my 82 years, and now with the acceptance of the film into the Tribeca Film Festival, I really can say, that the excitement has never stopped.” Vidal Sassoon

VIDAL SASSOON THE MOVIE, Michael Gordon and Craig Teper’s revealing, inspirational portrait of how one extraordinary man changed the world with a pair of scissors, will have its World Premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.

A fast-paced feature documentary spanning 80 years of revolution in history and culture, VIDAL SASSOON THE MOVIE is a true rags to riches tale, tracing Sassoon’s path from a London orphanage to international success and celebrity. Following Michael Gordon, founder of hair care company Bumble and bumble as he sets out to document Vidal’s life in a richly visual book the movie tells the story of how Sassoon revolutionized the world of hair – his pioneering, geometric, Bauhaus-inspired styles and “wash and wear” philosophy quite literally changing the way women looked. The fashion, style and social revolutions of the 1960’s come alive as the design of the book and the film unfold.

The Tribeca Film Festival World Premiere screening will take place on the evening of Friday, April 23, at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in Manhattan.  Sassoon will attend the festival and participate in a question-and-answer session following the premiere screening, along with Teper and Gordon.

VIDAL SASSOON THE MOVIE is directed by Craig Teper, produced by Michael Gordon and Jackie Bauer, and executive produced by Jim Czarnecki. For further information, visit http://www.vidalsassoonthemovie.com or http://www.facebook.com/VidalSassoonTheMovie

HEATWAVE HITS UNIQLO – SUMMER’S (ALMOST) HERE! (HONEST)

image

The sun was shining in the Uniqlo press room today with a sneak preview of the brands new collections launching across summer 2010.
The vibrant creations featured a combination of silk plum and silver two- toned dresses and a bold splash of colour in sculptured asymmetric mint and nude jersey dresses in the new Uniqlo DI - Costello Tagliapietra collection.

The classic t-shirt dress was back and proved the perfect beach cover up with bold nautical and tribal prints with an ethos of ‘throw it on and you’re good to go’!

The annual UT collection made it’s comeback with Mickey Mouse headlining the collaborations, proving that UT really is a Uniqlo T-shirt with something for everyone,  from ‘A Day in The Life of Agyness Deyn’ to Paul & Joe Beaute, and my personal favourite – prints from classic archive 1930’s Vogue covers which pay homage to the classic style bible.
Roll on summer we’ve made our shopping lists and we’re good to go!

LONDON FASHION WEEK: BALLY & CENTRAL ST MARTINS SHOE COLLABORATION

image

London Fashion Week: Bally and Central St Martins Shoe Collaboration

In 2009 Bally tasked 15 students, selected by Louise Wilson from both the 1st and 2nd year of Central St Martins MA Fashion Design Course to submit women’s shoe designs to Bally. Out of the original 15, Bally and Central St Martins jointly selected 5 students to have their work developed at Bally’s workshops in Florence, Italy and Caslano, Switzerland - the results were on display to the press yesterday, 23rd Feb, at Browns Hotel, London.

Working from a brief that asked them to create designs with high editorial value and a strong feeling of luxury each student’s work focused on accentuating a different part of the foot. All 5 students Estefania Cortes Harker, William Hendry, Frida Hofslagare, Stephanie Turner and Charles Youssef were on hand to show off their shoes and talk about their inspiration.
And, news of the collaboration spread quickly across town – our favourite fashion bloggers and tweeters wasted no time in acknowledging the highly creative talents of the group.
