LONDON FASHION WEEK: BALLY & CENTRAL ST MARTINS SHOE COLLABORATION

London Fashion Week: Bally and Central St Martins Shoe Collaboration
In 2009 Bally tasked 15 students, selected by Louise Wilson from both the 1st and 2nd year of Central St Martins MA Fashion Design Course to submit women’s shoe designs to Bally. Out of the original 15, Bally and Central St Martins jointly selected 5 students to have their work developed at Bally’s workshops in Florence, Italy and Caslano, Switzerland - the results were on display to the press yesterday, 23rd Feb, at Browns Hotel, London.
Working from a brief that asked them to create designs with high editorial value and a strong feeling of luxury each student’s work focused on accentuating a different part of the foot. All 5 students Estefania Cortes Harker, William Hendry, Frida Hofslagare, Stephanie Turner and Charles Youssef were on hand to show off their shoes and talk about their inspiration.
And, news of the collaboration spread quickly across town – our favourite fashion bloggers and tweeters wasted no time in acknowledging the highly creative talents of the group.

Etro SS10 Press Day

Set in the heart of the Modus Publicity press day triangle with Ferragamo and Akris, Etro held their SS10 Press Day in their beautiful Old Bond Street store. Toiling through the night before was well worth it, as the team turned it into a magical haven of bright colours and delicious soft prints, offering comfort from the cold weather outside.
The womenswear collection held centre stage, with its soft, feminine take on 1970’s glamour, a forte of Etro, whose signature print is the paisley print. The versatile clothing and wide leg trousers were a hit this season as well as the beautifully embellished and tasselled accessories which added a playful element to the collection.
Menswear is bright and bold as ever, as Kean Etro communicates his love of colour and its healing properties – they certainly cheered people up on such a grey day!
Urban Caprice were on hand with an array of delicious canapés and drinks, the elderflower and the tuna and lentils being the favoured flavours of the day.
Our lovely supportive attendees came throughout the day and we were happy to see so many familiar faces enjoying the luxurious setting and admiring the collections.
Modus Publicity / Modus Dowal Walker Press Day SS10

Modus celebrated its most successful press day to date, with 460 guests flooding in to take a peek at the new S/S ’10 fashion and beauty collections from a whole range of our clients. The event took place in the sumptuous grandeur of Washington House on Conduit Street. Catching the journalists eyes as they stepped through the door was the splendour of Mawi’s statement jewellery displayed in an antique glass cabinet.
Eager eyes shifted quickly to David Koma’s sculptural S/S ’10 collection; the designer even stopped by himself! Modus Dowal Walker offered press a St Tropez spray tan, whilst lucky males were treated to Kyoku facials. As guests sipped Prosecco and nibbled chocolate tartlets, they sauntered round the magnificent venue, marvelling at the Uniqlo ice sculpture with their Heat Tech goodie bags firmly in hand. Notebooks were filled rapidly, and request forms were piled high by the end of the day. Somehow I don’t think they’re going to shrink in the near future!

Georgina Goodman SS10 - No Rainbows Without Rain

The pain caused by my own too-tight-for-comfort vintage boots was temporarily forgotten about at the mere sight of the new Georgina Goodman S/S ‘10 collection. As I strolled into 44 Old Bond Street for a sneak preview, I was surrounded by a rainbow of metallics, heels higher than Everest, classy flats and updated versions of classic Goodman’s.
Cynthia and Louisa at Georgina Goodman described the new collection as a mixture of “graffiti pop and graphic heels with a feminine silhouette”; the most-demanded of the day were the new ‘Duke’ style – black suede T-bars with lime green python detail.
Other notable feet treats were the all-round favourites back in full force – ‘Natalia’ reigns supreme in satin peach for Spring/Summer, as does A/W ‘09’s ‘Sister’ boot in new shades. Despite heels on the catwalk reaching mountainous heights, Cynthia and Louisa were bombarded with requests to try on the ‘Elvis’ sandals - proof that flats are most definitely the ones to be seen in. Breathe a sigh of relief girls!
The evidence points in only one direction - every fashionista in a pair of GGs will have a definite spring in their step come next season!

Etro SS09 Press Day

Amidst the twinkling Christmas lights of Old Bond Street, Etro brought an early Spring sparkle in the form of sequined sari’s and jewel embellished silk kimono’s using a softer Eastern paisley palette in the finest metallic silks.
Combined alongside pastel pinstripes in baby blue and salmon hues, slouchy tailoring in the form of luxury pajamas were a real hit with the press who enjoyed an Italian inspired brunch of pistachio biscotti, parmesan cheese soufflé’s, polenta and rosemary cake.
The Indonesian influenced menswear collection combined luxury silk geometric printed robes with silk scarf belts, linen frilled shirts and oversized leather bags topped off with a bright straw panama, bring on the Summer!
Calvin Klein Collection Presentation SS09

The fashionistas were out in force in Milan and were not disappointed at Calvin Klein. Francisco Costa’s view for SS09 Calvin Klein Collection was a masterclass in architectural origami.
Presented akin to a gallery exhibit highlighting the delicate and light feel to each piece whilst showcasing the clever folds and pleating of a collection designed to fold down completely flat.
The theme extended through to bags and shoes with a Toblerone-esque silver clutch and silver caged-heel pumps. Get those suitcases at the ready - the ultimate travel collection has arrived!
