UNIQLO Heat Tech ‘Ice Man’

image

Taking centre stage against a glamorous backdrop of Mario Testino photography, was the very fabulous UNIQLO Heat Tech ‘Ice Man’
Mario Testino’s latest ad campaign for UNIQLO’s Heat Tech 2009 launch, features faces like Lily Donaldson and Coco Rocha and the entire bar area at the Modus press day was wrapped in these icy yet chic images, with a life size man made of ice to accompany them!
With his colourful thermal heated body chiseled to perfection the ice man was centre of attention as he proudly presented everyone’s favourite,  UNIQLO’s trusty ‘Heat Tech’ winter warmers . The long johns definitely proved to be the most popular product of the day and not as moment too soon as the Christmas lights were switched on and the winter weather set in.
Heat Tech Man did us proud, although he did become a shadow of his former self by the end of day - once the melt set in!!

Salvatore Ferragamo - Blue & Joy Exhibition

image

To celebrate the beginning of the Frieze Art Fair, Ferragamo teamed up with artists Blue & Joy AKA Fabio La Fauci and Daniele Sigalot to showcase a collection of their work.

The Salvatore Ferragamo Old Bond Street store was turned into a mini art gallery on Thursday the 15th of October.  Check out the bespoke button masterpiece created using 35,000 Salvatore Ferragamo vintage buttons.

Who says fashion isn’t art? If you fancy a slice of the stylish action you can purchase the art in store from the 15th of October, or why not check out the art for yourself from the 16th of October when the exhibition is open to the public.

+J Collection Launch - Jil Sander for Uniqlo

image

Thursday saw the much hyped launch of +J, the collaboration between minimalist style maestro Jil Sander and Japanese store UNIQLO. Following a five year hiatus from fashion, the designer created a 100-piece capsule collection aiming to merge her streamlined aesthetic with UNIQLO’s skill in creating affordable basics. London was first to see in the launch globally, with queues outside the flagship store snaking down Oxford Street from as early as 8am (including eager shoppers coming all the way from Scotland waiting patiently!).  With fashion glossies hot under the collar in anticipation and countdown posters adorning the stores, expectations were high, and Sander did not disappoint.

The collection included men’s and women’s pieces, ranging from sharply tailored jackets to Sander’s signature monochrome accessories. With the rare opportunity to get their hands on high-end style without the price tag, visitors to the store snatched up must-have pieces as soon as they hit the shop floor.

And the +J collaboration doesn’t end here. With the news that designs are already complete for Spring Summer 2010, we can be sure that the covetable items from this collection won’t be the last. But get in line now, I predict a sell-out…

Georgina Goodman Opens On Old Bond Street

image

Georgina Goodman opens her first store on Old Bond Street, the youngest brand to be located in the street with just 4 years in the business.

The store has been designed by Wells Mackereth Architects. The AW08 collection was shown in the new space, the new range evolves her designs to another level, pushing the boundaries of colour with a sensual mix of texture, where hand tinted pony skin and mottled metallic patent meets nubuck snakes and glove leather.

Whilst the early summer sun shone outside press enjoyed delicious breakfast canapés whilst wandering through Veronica Etro’s wintry wilderness inspired AW08 collection.

Luxurious Mongolian lamb gilets are worn with structured equestrian tailoring and Navaho inspired prints.

The men’s collection meanwhile was in full bloom bursting with vegetable and fruit prints. Evening tailoring was sharp and sophisticated with decadent tie silk trousers worn with rich velvet jackets.

Swarovski at LFW and Swarovski Crystalised

image

Swarovski crystals sparkled at all the key shows this week being used in innovative and different ways at each show.

Giles sent models down the catwalk in towering stilettos decorated with crystal wing nuts in a rainbow of colours.  Christopher Kane treated us to delicate dresses with a waterfall of crystals rippling as the models walked.  Erdem’s beautiful impressionist prints on delicate duchess satin were highlighted by large funnel necks embellished with a variety of shaped crystals in bright blues, greens and reds.

A truly fabulous week for Swarovski that began with a star studded party at the new Crystalised store and cosmos lounge with Cuba Gooding Jnr enjoying cocktails under the sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Twenty8Twelve Boutique Opens

image

image

Friday saw the much anticipated opening of Sienna and Savannah Miller’s Twenty8Twelve boutique on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill.

The opening was preceded on Thursday by a party hosted by the sisters at The Lonsdale club close to the store.  Needless to say it was a star studded affair filled with Sienna and Savannah’s friends, family and acquaintances and attended by such luminaries as Mario Testino, Matthew Williamson, KT Tunstall, and the ever loquacious Rhys Ifans.

Much fun was had by all, with the dancefloor well and truly rocking into the early hours.
