Calvin Klein Collection Presentation SS09

The fashionistas were out in force in Milan and were not disappointed at Calvin Klein. Francisco Costa’s view for SS09 Calvin Klein Collection was a masterclass in architectural origami.
Presented akin to a gallery exhibit highlighting the delicate and light feel to each piece whilst showcasing the clever folds and pleating of a collection designed to fold down completely flat.
The theme extended through to bags and shoes with a Toblerone-esque silver clutch and silver caged-heel pumps. Get those suitcases at the ready - the ultimate travel collection has arrived!

cK Calvin Klein Presentation SS09

Kevin Carrigan and uber-stylist Karl Templar mused over the selects for the next ck Calvin Klein advertising campaign whilst Jefferson Hack perused the line.
Bang-on trend with a nod to late 80s / early 90s classic Calvin Klein, a blend of the precious with the natural in white and neutral tones offset with metallics set the scene for a collection perfect for exotic climes.

Volvo Ocean Race - PUMA Team Launch

They said it never rains in Alicante ever …until now! Tony Lewis from Esquire and I flew to the not so hot Spain to experience PUMA sailing first hand before the team’s boat sets sail for the start of the official Volvo Ocean Race on the 11th October 08 .
Whilst Tony was taking part in the mini regatta on Thursday morning, myself and others from PUMA were busily preparing PUMA City (the moveable building following the PUMA team ‘Il Mostro’ from Port to port) for the evening festivities ….and yes it was still raining!
The afternoon comprised of trips on the ’Il Mostro’ and even the lack of wind did not deter Kenny, the skipper or the rest of the PUMA crew telling all about life on board for each gruelling leg of the race – good and bad!
I have a new found respect for these sailors and will be watching their progress on http://www.pumaoceanracing.com...
The sun finally made an appearance and there was just enough time to go to the hotel and change ready for cocktails at PUMA City hosted by Jochen Zeitz (CEO of PUMA), Antonio Bertone (Chief Marketing director) and Ken Reed (il Mostro skipper). Canapés were consumed and Champagne flowed with everyone was out on the sundecks overlooking the harbour. The cool music and sunset made for a perfect end to the days sailing and trip to Alicante.

Sinha Stanic SS09

Sinha Stanic held their London Fashion Week show at the Royal Academy of Arts on Thursday. The design duo took their inspirations from Peter Doig and Teddy Girls and mixed up together created a calamity of colour and print.
The Teddy Girl tailoring saw slim cut trousers, Cotton USA Teddy Girl shirts and slim fit jackets.
The bright bright colours clashing pink and red, prints entitled “drowned palm” and “black sun” depicted barren landscapes.

Margaret Howell SS09

The Margaret Howell store on Wigmore Street was quickly transformed on Thursday into slick catwalk space for the Spring Summer 09 show and was soon filled with some of London’s top fashion press.
The clean classic lines that Margaret is so renowned for had us all making mental shopping lists of what to buy when the collection hits the shops next February!

Fashion For Relief

On Wednesday, Naomi Campbell hosted her third Fashion for Relief catwalk show in aid of the White Ribbon Alliance with a little help from her sixty celebrity friends including Cheryl Cole, The Sugababes (one minus shoe), and Daisy Lowe to name but a few.
Highlight of the night was Cilla Black, who closed, and without a doubt stole the show with her amazing performance.

Swarovski Rocks Giles

New Oxford Street sparkled on Tuesday night as Estelle, Jamelia, Tamsin Eggerton, Nicholas Holt, Jade Parfit, Jasmine Guinness, Jo and Leah Wood, Liberty Ross, Olivia Inge, Rhys Ifans, Rosin Murphy, georgous England rugby player James Haskell, William Moseley, Albert Hammond Jnr and top brit model Agynes Dean walked the black crystal carpet to join Swarovski in celebrating the second issue of ROCKS magazine and ten fabulous seasons of Giles Deacon.
The great and the good of fashion quaffed Tanquary gin cocktails mixed by the Hoxton Pony, and danced on into the wee small hours to Horse Meat Disco, Disco Bloodbath and dj supremo Steve Mackie all under the watchful eye of the Pac Man ghost made from 4,500 hand placed silk carnations!

Antoni & Alison Escape From It All

London Fashion Week wouldn’t be the same for me without the genius of Antoni & Alison - they always manage to capture the mood and create beautiful outfits, all with a sense of fun.
This season was no exception - the show notes told us that “...like Gauguin, Antoni and Alison would love to escape from it all, unlike Gauguin they never actually go. Antoni and Alsion have not yet visited a South Sea Island, and yet their collection is very ‘exotic’ this season.
They have little knowledge of tropical things except what they have seen on TV, and they haven’t ever researched where coconuts (Cocus nucifera) come from. However, Antoni & Alison would like to present a very Exotic’ collection for Spring/Summer 09.”
The show opened with Biddie singing Bali H’ai and then the curtains opened to reveal 11 girls with their backs to the audience, dressed in exotic outfits - each girl turned to reveal their outfit…

What Fashion Folk are Talking About on the Front Row # 5 The Daily

Following on from Daily Rubbish which kept us all so entertained last season in those long waits for the shows to start, The Daily is Rubbish’s chic big sister - bringing all the scoops, news and views straight from SS09’s fashion front line.
Working into the small hours to get the stories out - Jenny Dyson and her team are delivering much needed up to the minute fashion news.
The Daily needs to be every day and not just for fashion week.
