Nanette Lepore SS09

Nanette’s collection oozed femininity and romance. Models strutted the catwalk in cascading frill dresses, striped jackets and bold floral prints in poppy, hibiscus, leaf and stone hues.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the super chic embellished tunic and sultry poppy satin dresses - that’s my Summer wardrobe all wrapped up!

Things Fashion Folk are Talking about on the Front Row # 3 SAVE THE GARMENT DISTRICT!

Following on from the campaign last season - things are hotting up. Quick reminder - the Garment district in New York is seen as the lifeforce for a number of american designers who source design and manufacture their collections in the few city blocks between 7th and 8th Aveune around the 30’s. Property developers are trying to move in and move the fashion companies out to redevelop this prime area of Manhatten.
Nanette Lepore started her business in this area as did a number of other designers and wants to see it remain. At her show this season the back stage T-shirt was a slogan in support of the Garment District. The design team took the opportunity to customise their T’s, with Nanette and her daughter taking a final bow at the end of the runway in theirs.
They even got me wearing one.

Calvin Klein 40th Anniversary

Calvin Klein threw THE party of New York Fashion Week on Sunday night and the great and the good turned out to celebrate the brand’s 40th Anniversary in style.
A John Pawson-designed structure was created solely for the event, leading guests up onto a section of the High Line - a now defunct railway which is being transformed into a public park - and out into Calvin Klein’s magical garden with over 5,000 long stem white roses.
The combination of the heady-scent of the roses with jaw-dropping views of New York’s sky line, James Turrell’s light installation and A list guests, was one to be remembered for years. Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry, Eva Mendes, Naomi Watts, Claire Danes, Jared Leto, Ashley Olsen, Djimon Hounsou, Cynthia Nixon, Hugh Dancy and my personal favourite - Kevin Bacon all enjoyed the special performance by Estelle singing New York New York.
Needless to say i think many party goers felt rather sorry for themselves yesterday, I know I did. Someone please remind me next time i say ‘Let’s all do shots!’
