THE L’OCCITANE GARDEN AWARDED RHS SILVER GILT MEDAL

image

The L’Occitane Garden designed by James Towillis has been awarded a prestigious Silver Gilt medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010.  All of the plant species featured in the garden grow naturally in Provence and the surrounding Mediterranean landscape and are the key ingredients L’Occitane’s best-selling product collections.

“I have enjoyed every minute of working on The L’Occitane Garden.  I have always been fascinated by the rich landscape of Provence - the wild bouquets of colour and texture that are unique to this area. The rich landscape provides the perfect inspiration for a Chelsea Flower Show Garden and gives a broad scope of planting opportunities.

ALLY CAPELLINO CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH EXHIBITION AT THE WAPPING PROJECT

image

Only on until 6th June - this walk down memory lane for me is a reminder of one person’s fabulous vision.  Alison Lloyd aka Ally Capellino was one of the first people I met in the “fashion business” I think it was 1986…

I had bought some of her clothes at a sample sale, and we then met at a trade show.  My twin brother Paul and I did a stint of modelling for the house - catwalk, brochures etc., and have been friends ever since.

Really interesting to see the progression of the brand from its 80’s clothing origins through to utility accessories collections today.

WEST VILLAGE MAGAZINE STORE, NY

image

Walking down Hudson Street in the West Village - came across this magazine store.  All this talk of print media being dead. I thought I was in heaven.  Every issue of every possible magazine was here.  Piles of The Gentlewoman which had just come out in the UK and apparently sold out everywhere in London…

CALVIN KLEIN AT THE MET BALL

image

Top: Diane Kruger, Bottom: Zoe Saldana

We could mention Katy Perry’s illuminated dress maybe, or Tina Fey’s jumpsuit, perhaps?  Or maybe even Choe Sevigny’s, erm, what was that again?

No, on second thoughts, we’ll go with the elegant minimalism of Francisco Costa’s Calvin Klein Collection women’s looks beautifully worn by Zoe Saldana and Diane Kruger.
