UNIQLO LUCKY COUNTER - GET TWEETING!

In the run-up to their website re-launch on 9 September 2010, UNIQLO have handed over control of their best selling items to their customers, in a Twitter initiative called LUCKY COUNTER, running from NOW until the 8th of September.

You are invited to Tweet about selected items to reduce the cost; the more Tweets, the more you can save on the price!

All Twitter users have to do is simply visit the LUCKY COUNTER website , select their item and follow the instructions to Tweet. You can even see the price dynamically change in real-time. The final reduced prices of these UNIQLO best-selling items, including super soft merino cashmere, Japanese denim, ultra-light premium down and Heattech, will be announced on the day of the website re-launch, on the 9th of September, when customers will be able to browse and buy from 9am. The reduced prices will be available until 13 September.

Talk about a dream team! Japanese fast-fashion brand Uniqlo has named Charlize Theron and Orlando Bloom global brand ambassadors for its new “Made For All” philosophy. As part of a year-long contract, the sexy A-list duo will appear in Uniqlo’s worldwide advertising campaigns and be tasked with communicating the company’s new tagline, which emphasizes its commitment to provide clothing for everyone, regardless of nationality, age, occupation or gender. With Charlize’s Oscar-winning beauty and Orlando’s rugged good looks, we’re sure these ads, scheduled to drop next month, will be unforgettable.

Tucked away in the heart of Cavendish Square, The Conservatory played host to our Christmas in July 2010 press day. With the simplicity of a little brown paper, white string and that extra touch of creativity, we were able to bring that sweet fondness of our Christmas memories to life. As we revealed to our guests what was in store for them this year, we were met with gasps of excitement, intrigue and absolute delight. From socks to snoods, ski jackets to suits and shoes to sunglasses, there was something for everyone. With the sun shining down and illuminating what Santa is stuffing those Christmas stockings with, we can’t help but wonder - what will I get for Christmas?

METAL GEAR SOLID LEGENDS AT UNIQLO OXFORD STREET THIS FRIDAY

When it comes to video game legends, they really don’t come more cast iron legendary than Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima.  To celebrate the release of Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid latest chapter Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker this week on the Sony PSP, UT Uniqlo has teamed up with Konami to produce a limited edition of 10 MGS: Peace Walker T’s.
Each UT t-shirt comes with its own special code, that when entered into MGS: Peace Walker, unlocks the purchase so that the t-shirt can be worn by a character in-game.

This Saturday Hideo Kojima and equally venerated lead MGS artist Yoji Shinkawa will be appearing in person at Uniqlo’s flagship store on Oxford Street, signing copies of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and exclusive postcards from 11am to 1pm.  The first 20 customers in line on the signing day will receive an exclusive Uniqlo MGS: Peace Walker goodie bag, featuring a t-shirt and a copy of the game.

JILL SANDER BATHES IN THE GLOW OF UNIQLO

SUZY MENKES of the New York Times writes; Jil Sander leaps up from her desk, where a low shelf with a wood sculpture and framed drawings is the only decoration between parquet floor and the room’s white wedding-cake of a ceiling cornice.


“Look,” she says, tugging at her fitted white blouse, displaying its deep cuffs and pearly buttons. “39 euros! Real buttons — and a very nice cut.”


The blouse is part of what Ms. Sander’s calls “only a baby,” her collaboration since October with the Japanese company Uniqlo, which also made her small, body-curved navy blue jacket. Her pants came from her previous life at the Jil Sander label, where her style morphed over three decades from sleek severity to sweet serenity. Read More…

Uniqlo has a fun little web service called Colour Tweet - you just enter your Twitter handle and it creates a fun animation featuring your icon, your tweets, and pixellated Japanese girls in Uniqlo T’s dancing on-screen to happy music.  What’s not to like?  Give it a go!

HEATWAVE HITS UNIQLO – SUMMER’S (ALMOST) HERE! (HONEST)

The sun was shining in the Uniqlo press room today with a sneak preview of the brands new collections launching across summer 2010.
The vibrant creations featured a combination of silk plum and silver two- toned dresses and a bold splash of colour in sculptured asymmetric mint and nude jersey dresses in the new Uniqlo DI - Costello Tagliapietra collection.

The classic t-shirt dress was back and proved the perfect beach cover up with bold nautical and tribal prints with an ethos of ‘throw it on and you’re good to go’!

The annual UT collection made it’s comeback with Mickey Mouse headlining the collaborations, proving that UT really is a Uniqlo T-shirt with something for everyone,  from ‘A Day in The Life of Agyness Deyn’ to Paul & Joe Beaute, and my personal favourite – prints from classic archive 1930’s Vogue covers which pay homage to the classic style bible.
Roll on summer we’ve made our shopping lists and we’re good to go!

UNIQLO Heat Tech ‘Ice Man’

Taking centre stage against a glamorous backdrop of Mario Testino photography, was the very fabulous UNIQLO Heat Tech ‘Ice Man’
Mario Testino’s latest ad campaign for UNIQLO’s Heat Tech 2009 launch, features faces like Lily Donaldson and Coco Rocha and the entire bar area at the Modus press day was wrapped in these icy yet chic images, with a life size man made of ice to accompany them!
With his colourful thermal heated body chiseled to perfection the ice man was centre of attention as he proudly presented everyone’s favourite,  UNIQLO’s trusty ‘Heat Tech’ winter warmers . The long johns definitely proved to be the most popular product of the day and not as moment too soon as the Christmas lights were switched on and the winter weather set in.
Heat Tech Man did us proud, although he did become a shadow of his former self by the end of day - once the melt set in!!
