HUNKS IN TRUNKS
Four of the hottest bods in the sporting and acting world have been chosen to front the latest Calvin Klein underwear advertising campaign. Baring almost all for the cameras this season are: Fernando Verdasco, the Spanish tennis player, and Hidetoshi Nakata, the retired Japanese soccer player, along with the American actors, Kellan Lutz, of the ‘Twilight’ film series fame, and Mechad Brooks, who will be well known to fans of the TV series, Desperate Housewives and True Blood. It is the first time Calvin Klein has used four famous faces at once

The campaign was photographed by Mikael Jansson. The four hunks in trunks continue Calvin Klein’s muscular reputation for mixing pecs and sex appeal. Previous under-cover stars for the brand have included the footballer, Freddy Lindberg, Dijimon Hounsou of The Gladiators and Black Diamond fame, and Travis Fimmel, the good ‘ol country boy-turned-male model, from the Australian Outback. The most recent to model was Keira Knightley’s ex, Jamie Dornan.

Volvo Ocean Race - PUMA Team Launch

They said it never rains in Alicante ever …until now! Tony Lewis from Esquire and I flew to the not so hot Spain to experience PUMA sailing first hand before the team’s boat sets sail for the start of the official Volvo Ocean Race on the 11th October 08 .
Whilst Tony was taking part in the mini regatta on Thursday morning, myself and others from PUMA were busily preparing PUMA City (the moveable building following the PUMA team ‘Il Mostro’ from Port to port) for the evening festivities ….and yes it was still raining!
The afternoon comprised of trips on the ’Il Mostro’ and even the lack of wind did not deter Kenny, the skipper or the rest of the PUMA crew telling all about life on board for each gruelling leg of the race – good and bad!
I have a new found respect for these sailors and will be watching their progress on http://www.pumaoceanracing.com...
The sun finally made an appearance and there was just enough time to go to the hotel and change ready for cocktails at PUMA City hosted by Jochen Zeitz (CEO of PUMA), Antonio Bertone (Chief Marketing director) and Ken Reed (il Mostro skipper). Canapés were consumed and Champagne flowed with everyone was out on the sundecks overlooking the harbour. The cool music and sunset made for a perfect end to the days sailing and trip to Alicante.

Greening NY Fashion Week with Aveda

On a mission to green the fashion scene in NY, Aveda instigated an eco-transition backstage at some of the coolest SS09 Fashion Week shows. Building on previous seasons where Aveda have successfully provided re-usuable aluminum bottles with NY tap water stations, organic locally sourced food and committed designers to print invitations on recycled materials, this year Aveda also initiated a Kick The Cap Out Of Oceans Plastic campaign, providing cap recycling stations backstage for those bringing bottles backstage.
When it came to getting across town with Elle’s Georgia Collins, what we hadn’t anticipated were the genius Aveda pedi-cabs, commandeered by cute, daredevil riders and provided to transport chic fashionistas speedily (if not slightly scarily!) throughout the traffic snarl of Manhattan – definitely one for the Fashion Week photo album!

Martin Creed: Work No. 850

Artist and Turner Prize winner Martin Creed, has joined up with PUMA for his new exhibition called Work No. 850 at Tate Britain.
A runner speeds through the main neo-classical sculpture gallery every thirty seconds, running as if their life depended on it, every day for the next four months until November 16th 2008. Tate visitors are strongly advised to look both ways before crossing the hall. Creed described the work as an “example of not standing still.”
All the runners taking part in the installation are wearing PUMA RUNNING apparel and performance footwear throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Chantecaille LFW Debut

Graeme Black - formerly the head designer at Ferragamo pulled in serious press support for his first London show with front row seats taken by Vogue, The Telegraph and the Financial Times.
This was also the first London show outing for our luxury make up brand Chantecaille who created the make up for the show. Kay Montano led the Chantecaille make up team and coined a new beauty buzz word ‘the Technicolor lip’ to describe the peachy-orange shade of lip colour seen on the models, which contrasted beautifully with Graeme Black’s rich colour palette of navy, grey, emerald and bilberry.
The hair, by Sam McKnight is another trend we are sure will get a lot of attention from the beauty press in the months to come.

Swarovski at LFW and Swarovski Crystalised

Swarovski crystals sparkled at all the key shows this week being used in innovative and different ways at each show.
Giles sent models down the catwalk in towering stilettos decorated with crystal wing nuts in a rainbow of colours. Christopher Kane treated us to delicate dresses with a waterfall of crystals rippling as the models walked. Erdem’s beautiful impressionist prints on delicate duchess satin were highlighted by large funnel necks embellished with a variety of shaped crystals in bright blues, greens and reds.
A truly fabulous week for Swarovski that began with a star studded party at the new Crystalised store and cosmos lounge with Cuba Gooding Jnr enjoying cocktails under the sparkling crystal chandeliers.
