ETRO MILAN MENSWEAR SS11 BACKSTAGE

image

ETRO MILAN MENSWEAR SS11 BACKSTAGE

The tree of life from Ancient Mesopotamia forms the starting point for
this seasons Etro Menswear collection. The story goes that the date
palm seed was the original inspiration for the Paisley design. The
tress is represented in Western culture by the beech, oak and ash
trees. No prizes for guessing the Goody bag at the show .......

ALLY CAPELLINO CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH EXHIBITION AT THE WAPPING PROJECT

image

Only on until 6th June - this walk down memory lane for me is a reminder of one person’s fabulous vision.  Alison Lloyd aka Ally Capellino was one of the first people I met in the “fashion business” I think it was 1986…

I had bought some of her clothes at a sample sale, and we then met at a trade show.  My twin brother Paul and I did a stint of modelling for the house - catwalk, brochures etc., and have been friends ever since.

Really interesting to see the progression of the brand from its 80’s clothing origins through to utility accessories collections today.

WEST VILLAGE MAGAZINE STORE, NY

image

Walking down Hudson Street in the West Village - came across this magazine store.  All this talk of print media being dead. I thought I was in heaven.  Every issue of every possible magazine was here.  Piles of The Gentlewoman which had just come out in the UK and apparently sold out everywhere in London…

MODUS LOVES… PICK ME UP

image

Pick Me Up - Billed as the first contemporary graphic art fair in the UK at Somerset house…

Hurry down there it’s only on until Monday.

Pick Me Up brings together graphic artists and the opportunity to buy
limited edition prints. My favourite was Mr Bingo’s Star Wars hair styles.

Also pop up studios from Rob Ryan and London Print Club

Always a good start to the day if the meeting is at The Club at the Ivy.
Yesterday was no exception - incredible spring flowers in the lobby.
That’s a lot of daffs!
