What Fashion Folk are Talking About on the Front Row # 5 The Daily

image

Following on from Daily Rubbish which kept us all so entertained last season in those long waits for the shows to start, The Daily is Rubbish’s chic big sister - bringing all the scoops, news and views straight from SS09’s fashion front line.

Working into the small hours to get the stories out - Jenny Dyson and her team are delivering much needed up to the minute fashion news.

The Daily needs to be every day and not just for fashion week.

Things Fashion Folk are Talking about on the Front Row # 4 UNIQLO Robot Sales Assitant

image

Reports are flooding in about Uniqlo’s latest hire - a sales assistant robot sent from Japan to help in the Broadway Store.

Wakamura, a ROBOT from Mitsubishi is spending time in New York.  It’s first trip abroad away from home and parents.

It doesn’t speak english that well but is learning and has been drawing a crowd.  Wakamaru can answer basic question - How are you? Where and you from? Do you like New York?

Wakamaru isn’t offering any styling advice yet but it’s only a matter of time….

Things Fashion Folk are Talking about on the Front Row # 3 SAVE THE GARMENT DISTRICT!

image

Following on from the campaign last season - things are hotting up. Quick reminder - the Garment district in New York is seen as the lifeforce for a number of american designers who source design and manufacture their collections in the few city blocks between 7th and 8th Aveune around the 30’s.  Property developers are trying to move in and move the fashion companies out to redevelop this prime area of Manhatten.

Nanette Lepore started her business in this area as did a number of other designers and wants to see it remain.  At her show this season the back stage T-shirt was a slogan in support of the Garment District. The design team took the opportunity to customise their T’s, with Nanette and her daughter taking a final bow at the end of the runway in theirs.

They even got me wearing one.

What The Front Row Are Talking About Today #5 Daily Rubbish

image

It’s what everyone’s talking about… Daily Rubbish has been keeping the fashion pack amused and updated all week.

The Rubbish paperboys and girls are outside all the shows to deliver the news.  Behind the scenes Jenny Dyson and her team are working late into the night creating Rubbish for the next day.

Favourite regular columns include: fashionable finger puppets - there’s 6 to collect and they can be ordered from the website; Through the Keyhole, where the reader has to guess the identity of a fashion insider; a pullout poster to collect and Crystal Tips - the columnist obsessed by sparkle and all thinks Swarovski.
